Should you choose to see one of our psychiatrists, we can provide you with both medication management as well as therapy (if you choose). Most of our patients choose therapy along with medication management, but others choose one or the other. We can help you with coming up with an individualized treatment plan that incorporates the biopsychosocial model of treatment for the best possible outcome. Our psychiatrists are expert psychopharmacologists and can help with you maintaining or initiating treatment. Genetic testing may help inform diagnosis and treatment.
Individual Therapy is an opportunity for growth. It is a safe space that is created where one can begin to heal and grow as a person. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a very effective form of treatment that we often use, it teaches individuals how to identify their cognitive distortions and make the necessary changes moving forward. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is another modality of treatment that is used, this type of therapy helps individuals understand how the past affects current behaviors so that these can be changed into more helpful ways of coping.
Couples counseling helps improve communication and rebuild the bond that you once had with your partner. It is about enabling each partner to be heard and to hear themselves. It is about providing a mirror to reflect the change and provide a direction that will lead to growth. It is about identifying negative interaction cycles and being given the guidance to make the right changes. It is about rekindling a sense of intimacy. We can help you with your goals for your relationship.
Diagnostic Clarification: You may want diagnostic clarification if you suspect that you or your child may have ADHD, Autism, a mood disorder, anxiety disorder or if you have any other specific questions related to diagnosis. This is a good option if you are not seeking a thorough report, but would like testing done, followed by a feedback session in which results of testing are explained and your questions can be answered.
Estimated length of time: 3-8 hours in person and 2-6 hours to collect data
Life Direction Testing/Career Coaching: Are you feeling lost or stuck? Do you want to move forward with your life but are uncertain of what path is best for you? This brief testing focuses on discerning your strengths, weaknesses, and personality factors to give you a better sense of what careers are the best fit for you.
Estimated length of time: 1 session for testing, 1 or more sessions for feedback and discussion of results
Comprehensive Psychodiagnostic Testing: This lengthier testing includes testing of various domains, including cognitive (IQ), academic, executive functioning, and socio-emotional functioning to give you a broad picture of you or your child. This is the best option if you are seeking accommodations or a thorough report detailing the testing and diagnosis.
Estimated length of time: 7-11 hours and 4-8 hours to collect data
Please note that for above hourly estimates (billed at Dr. Stein’s hourly rate) there will be a $50-150 materials fee added to the total (depending on which tests are used).
